Jones Coffee Roasters | Pasadena

Let’s start this off right. If you live in Pasadena, and have never been to Jones Coffee Roasters, at 537 S Raymond Ave, you’re in for a serious treat.

Jones started as a wholesale roaster in the 90’s. But just a few years ago they decided to open their doors for retail business. Actually, according to the owners, they started offering coffee simply because all their wholesalers asked for it anyway. So they put up some business hours on the front, and with absolutely no marketing started to bring in some traffic. It was just word of mouth from what I understand, as that’s how I heard about it too. But now during morning hours its sometimes hard to find a seat.

I have to admit, it was hard to decide how to review Jones’ since I go there so often. So I decided to be as hard on them as possible. I planned to sneak in on a Sunday when they would be less busy and more likely to fail at making a great drink. Fortunately for them, failing is rare, and the small-single Cappuccino was amazing. Probably the milk was slightly hot, but extremely sweet, and the espresso was perfect. And since beautiful latte art is a given for Frankie (the regular morning shift Italian-stallion who served me), the drink would score high at any competition.

Food is great too, as they get a lot of their pastries from the popular Euro Pane bakery in Pasadena. Every day they have fresh sandwiches made in-house available in the fridge, but on Fridays they serve fresh hot tamales – which are great.

Visiting Jones is definitely a must if you’re in the area!
